Privacy Policy
Last updated: 11 October 2026. This explains what personal data Snipsaur collects, why, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it. We keep it short and plain on purpose.
1. Who we are
Snipsaur is a software service operated from the United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), Snipsaur is the "controller" of the personal data described below. You can reach us at any time through our contact page.
2. What we collect
- Account details: your email address and a password. We never store your password itself — only a one-way scrambled (hashed) version that can't be turned back into the original.
- Plan and billing: which plan you're on, plus the customer and subscription reference numbers our payment processor (Stripe) gives us. Your card details are entered directly with Stripe and never reach or get stored on our servers.
- Usage records: the date and time of each upload you make, so we can apply your plan's limits.
- Content you submit: the YouTube links you paste in, or the video files you upload. To make your clips we temporarily download the video (or take the file you uploaded), transcribe its speech to find natural cut points, and produce the clips. These files may contain personal data about people who appear or speak in the video.
- Messages you send us: if you use the contact form, your name, email, optional phone number and message.
- Technical data: your IP address is processed in server logs and to apply rate limits that protect the service from abuse.
3. Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To provide the service you asked for — creating your account, processing videos, applying plan limits, taking payment, and emailing you when your clips are ready or you ask to reset your password. Basis: performing our contract with you.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse — rate limiting, fraud and misuse prevention, fixing faults. Basis: our legitimate interests in running a safe, reliable service.
- To answer your messages. Basis: legitimate interests (and steps you ask us to take before a contract).
- To meet legal obligations such as keeping tax and accounting records. Basis: legal obligation.
We do not send marketing emails, we do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.
4. Cookies
Snipsaur sets a single session cookie that keeps you logged in. It is strictly necessary for the service to work, so it doesn't need a consent banner. We don't use advertising or analytics cookies. When you pay, Stripe's checkout page may set its own cookies under Stripe's own policy.
5. Who we share data with
We use a small number of service providers ("processors") who handle data on our behalf and only for the purposes described here:
- Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing.
- Resend — delivering the emails we send you.
- Our hosting provider — the servers and database the service runs on.
- YouTube (Google) — when you submit a link, our servers request that video from YouTube; the link itself is sent to YouTube as part of that request.
We may also disclose data where the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others. We don't sell personal data to anyone.
6. Transfers outside the UK
Some of our providers process data outside the UK (for example in the United States or EU). Where they do, we rely on safeguards recognised by UK law, such as an adequacy decision or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement / Addendum to standard contractual clauses.
7. How long we keep it
- Source videos we download, or that you upload, to process your request are deleted automatically within 24 hours.
- Generated clips are deleted automatically after 7 days, so download what you want to keep. Transcript text is used while your job runs and isn't saved to our database.
- Account details and usage records are kept while your account is open, and deleted when you ask us to close it (see below), except where we must keep something for legal reasons.
- Billing records are kept for as long as UK tax law requires (generally six years).
- Contact messages are kept for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up.
8. Your rights
You have the right to: be told what data we hold about you and get a copy; have inaccurate data corrected; have your data erased; restrict or object to certain processing; and receive your data in a portable format. To use any of these, or to have your account and its data deleted, contact us via the contact page from the email address on your account. We'll respond within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. We'd appreciate the chance to put things right first, but you don't have to contact us before complaining.
9. Security
We protect data with measures such as hashed passwords, encrypted (HTTPS) connections, rate limiting, and restricting each user's access to their own jobs and clips. No online service can promise perfect security, but we take reasonable steps and will act promptly if something goes wrong, including notifying you and the ICO where the law requires.
10. Other people's data in your videos
If you submit a video featuring other people, you are responsible for having the right to use and process it, as set out in our Terms & Conditions.
11. Children
Snipsaur is not intended for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we'll delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed, and we'll notify active users of any material changes.
13. Contact
Questions about this policy or your data: use our contact page.
